Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County hosts Homes for Hounds

Habitat for Humanity Bergen Restore, 121 Carver Ave, Westwood, NJ 07675, September 18th, 2021. Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County will host a doghouse build challenge benefiting our current veteran allocated home at 95 Sand Rd., Westwood, NJ 07675 on Saturday, September 18th at the Bergen ReStore.

This is our 2nd annual Homes for Hounds event. Not only will eventgoers have the opportunity to vote and bid on 11 doghouses, but we will also be hosting a pet adoption day, raffles, food and ice cream.

“This event really has 2 objectives,” says Habitat Bergen’s Executive Director, Teri Capparelli, “Homes for Hounds connects our community with Bergen County pets in need of a new family, while the money raised directly supports our new veteran family’s home!”

Closter Animal Welfare Society (CLAWS) and Westwood Veterinarian Regional Hospital will be partnering with us.

“This gives our Habitat Bergen community an opportunity to celebrate our furry friends and raise funds to build affordable housing in Bergen County,” says Volunteer Coordinator, Gloria Bello.

Voting has already opened on our website www.habitatbergen.org. Additionally, we will have in person voting at the event, and the Bergen ReStore will be hosting our 4th Anniversary Sale.

About Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County

The mission of Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County is to provide decent, affordable homes for hardworking Bergen County families. We join in a common goal with other affiliates of the international organization to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness by working in partnership with people in need. Using volunteer labor and donated funds and materials, Habitat builds or rehabilitates simple, decent, homes and sells them to low-income families through a zero-interest mortgage. Habitat is a people-to-people partnership, which joins together all people, regardless of race, nationality, religion, or socioeconomic status.
