Northern NJ Community Foundation Awards Grants to Careers Through Culinary Arts and LA Family Housing

(Hackensack, New Jersey; October 30, 2021) -- The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation's (NNJCF) Andrea Tilbian Halejian Memorial Fund announces two grant awards in 2021.  The NNJCF donor advised fund donated $5,000 to Careers Through Culinary Arts in New York City and $12,000 to LA Family Housing in North Hollywood, California.

The NNJCF, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Hackensack, New Jersey, concentrates on the focus areas of the arts, civic engagement, education, the environment, public health, and philanthropy.

The Fund remembers Wyckoff, New Jersey resident Andrea Tilbian Halejian and contributes to qualified charitable organizations she supported.  The grant to Careers Through Culinary Arts supports the LA Redbird BIPOC scholarship.  Careers Through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) is a workforce development nonprofit providing underserved teens with a pathway to success through culinary, job and life skills.  They service 20,000 middle-and-high school students in these seven regions across the United States: New York City, Newark, Philadelphia and Camden, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington D.C./Maryland/Northern Virginia and Arizona, as well as seven Navajo reservation schools.

The support of the LA Family Housing will further the organization's goal to help people transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services.  The nonprofit organization uses evidence-based best practices to achieve their goals and currently operates 26 properties of temporary, permanently affordable, and permanent supportive housing across Los Angeles.
