Expert Panel Will Discuss Impact of Social Determinants of Health, Adverse Childhood Experiences & Trauma

Paramus, N.J. (December 2, 2021) – Care Plus NJ, Inc. (“CarePlus NJ”), a pioneer in integrated primary and behavioral health services for adults and children, announces it will be hosting a free virtual roundtable titled “Trauma-Informed Communities: Innovative & Compassionate Approaches,” which will explore diversity, equity, and inclusion through the lens of trauma-informed care.

Taking place virtually via Zoom on December 7th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., the panel discussion is free and open to the public and those interested in attending can register here. The purpose of this panel discussion is to put a trauma-informed lens on diversity, equity and inclusion. Through the discussion, expert panelists will explore the impact of social determinants of health, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and other traumatic events. The panel will also highlight innovative programs and organizations that are working to address social issues and increase access to care.

“Many individuals have trauma related to their cultural identities that may potentially manifest at a young age as Adverse Childhood Experiences,” said Jennifer Velten, Program Coordinator, CarePlus NJ. “The goal of this panel is to recognize and explore the linkage between trauma and cultural identity and how we can view care for all through an equitable lens while being conscious of how social determinants of health like ethnicity, socioeconomic status and nationality can all impact how individuals experience trauma as well as their overall health and wellbeing.”
