Riverdale, N.J. – December 17, 2021 – Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey (GSNNJ), the preeminent leadership development organization for girls in Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, and northern Warren counties, announces a partnership with Morgan Stanley Wealth Management to help girls learn about financial literacy and entrepreneurship spanning a series of events over the next several months. To kick off the partnership, women leaders from Corporate & Institutional Solutions (CIS), a division within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, sponsored and delivered a virtual financial literacy workshop on December 14 attended by 67 Girl Scouts. The virtual event sponsored by Morgan Stanley Wealth Management was tailored to the financial learning needs of girls ages 7-16. Morgan Stanley Wealth Management’s Money Moves virtual workshop is a fun and interactive educational workshop designed to help children and teens learn about spending, saving, investing, and giving. Through the partnership, an all-women leadership team helps girls discover the meaning of money, learn how to track their spending with a money diary and facilitate dialogue using real-world examples to bring the concepts to life and help girls apply their knowledge. Additionally, Money Moves includes age-appropriate activities that helps girls work toward their Girl Scout Financial Literacy badge including learning how to set goals, budgeting, and saving for special purchases. The program is designed to equip future savers, spenders, donors and investors with the knowledge and tools needed to better understand money. The program also is designed to help girls unlock their entrepreneurial potential providing them with tools and tactics they can utilize for the Girl Scout Cookie Program by exploring how to manage cookie sales and profits.

“Our goal with this partnership is to help girls develop the confidence to build a solid foundation for their future and prepare them for the important life milestones ahead,” said Edwin Barreto, Interim Chief Executive Officer / Chief Financial Officer, Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. “We are grateful to partner with Morgan Stanley Wealth Management on this exciting and informative financial literacy workshop as well as on a series of upcoming activities that will further augment the entrepreneurial skills girls develop as Girl Scouts.”
