Riverdale, N.J. – February 17, 2022 – Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey (GSNNJ), the preeminent leadership development organization for girls, announces that Sandra A. Kenoff has been appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer. Dennis C. Miller Associates, Inc. (DCM Associates, Inc.), a nonprofit leadership executive search firm, led the national search and selection process on behalf of Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey.

Kenoff joined Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey in 2018 as Chief Development and Communications Officer, where she has been an integral member of the organization’s executive leadership team, working diligently to ensure the council upholds the mission and core values of Girl Scouting. Utilizing her expertise in marketing and fund development, Kenoff has helped the organization make significant strides in expanding the reach and impact of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Kenoff has been instrumental in maximizing donor acquisition, engagement, and retention among individual donors, corporations, foundations and through special events in collaboration with the fund development committee. Additionally, Kenoff has been a champion of the Girl Scout brand, executing integrated marketing and communications plans to elevate awareness of the program and connect with community stakeholders and drive enrollment. Kenoff’s marketing expertise within the organization also extends nationally as she currently serves on the Girl Scouts of the USA’s Marketing Advisory Committee. Recognizing the importance of positioning Girl Scouts as the faces and voices of the organization, Kenoff is also responsible for developing the council’s Media Girls program, which provides Girl Scouts with the unique opportunity to serve as brand ambassadors for GSNNJ.

“Sandra’s strategic leadership, business acumen and depth of knowledge pertaining to all things Girl Scouts make her the ideal candidate for this role,” said Bette M. Simmons, Ed.D., Board Chair, Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. “Since joining the organization in 2018, Sandra has made tremendous and invaluable contributions to Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey, and we look forward to working with her to continue to enhance and expand opportunities for girls as well as access to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience throughout northern New Jersey.”

In her new role, Kenoff will provide leadership and strategic direction to ensure GSNNJ continues to realize its mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Overseeing all aspects of the council organization, Kenoff will spearhead leadership development, community engagement, program development, fund development and membership development, as well as ensure operational efficiency.

“Sandra has demonstrated unwavering leadership especially throughout the pandemic and has helped to evolve and shape our Council to position us for continued success,” said Shanna Jafri, First Vice Chair and Chair of the Search Committee, Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. “We are thrilled to announce Sandra’s appointment to the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey, and we are confident that under her leadership we will be able to reach and empower more girls from every background, every ability, and every economic circumstance, to provide them with the countless benefits of a diverse, inclusive, all-girl environment. We are thankful to Dennis Miller and the DCM Associates team for spearheading the successful search and selection process that led us to this decision.”

“It’s truly an honor to have been selected by the Board of Directors as the new President and CEO of Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey,” said Kenoff. “It has always been my goal to expand the impact and reach of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in northern New Jersey, and I look forward to building upon that goal in an even greater capacity in the coming months. I will continue to partner with our Board of Directors, staff and volunteers to uphold the mission and values of the organization to give every girl an opportunity to find and use their voice and talents to make the world and their communities a better place.”

Prior to joining Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey, Kenoff served as Director of Marketing and Special Events for JCC of Central New Jersey where she developed integrated marketing campaigns and fundraising initiatives across the JCC's 11 business units to elevate and reposition the organization for growth, resulting in an increase from $5 million to $8.5 million in gross revenue over nine years. Throughout her career, Kenoff also held several roles in marketing, advertising, and communications with firms such as J. Walter Thompson, Foote, Cone & Belding, and Grey Advertising.

As a graduate of University of Pittsburgh, Kenoff is an active member of the University of Pittsburgh Alumni Association Career Networking Group and the New Jersey Pitt Alumni Club.
