URBY AND LMXD ANNOUNCE PRIORITY WAITLIST FOR NEWARK URBY

Leasing to Kick off this Summer for Acclaimed Brand’s Newest Community in Downtown Newark

Newark, NJ (June 7, 2022) — Construction is nearing completion on Newark Urby, paving the way for leasing to officially launch this summer.  In anticipation of the opening, Urby and LMXD, which have teamed up to create the new mixed-use project in New Jersey’s largest city, today announced the formation of a Priority Waitlist for prospective residents to receive advance information on the community and be among the first to schedule private tours of Urby Newark, which is located at 155 Washington Street.

Newark Urby features 250 rental residences ranging from studios to three bedrooms with light-filled living areas.  Urby restored and modernized a historic 18 story Art Deco tower, preserving original design elements and adding a new 4 story addition. Residents will enjoy communal spaces that radiate social energy, including a lush rooftop terrace and ground floor courtyard with BBQ grills and sitting areas, ground floor courtyard, state-of-the-art gym, multiple lounge areas, a resident co-working space and a dog run. The building will also include roughly 4,000 square feet of neighborhood retail highlighted by a public café, a hallmark of Urby communities, as well as a 4,000-square foot Rutgers-Newark welcome center.

“We’re excited to bring Urby to the vibrant, convenient and cultural hub of Newark,” said  David Barry, Founder and CEO of Urby.  “The development reflects the brand’s commitment to thoughtful design, engaging programming and community connection that creates unique experiences for residents.”

"Newark Urby represents our ongoing commitment to supporting the overall growth and success of Downtown Newark and we are proud to see our collective vision for this underutilized site come to fruition," said Sam Chapin, Managing Director at LMXD. "With modern residences, state-of-the-art amenities, and retail and public space, Newark Urby successfully combines high quality living with a community-focused approach."

Newark Urby is located centrally in the heart of Downtown Newark, across the street from Rutgers-Newark and just blocks from light rail service and the NJ Transit Broad Street Station, and a short walk from Newark Penn Station–with access to Amtrak, PATH and NJ Transit rail. It is also just a few blocks away from both Military Park and Washington Park.
