Kean Skylands to Host Fall Learning Festival
A free, family event on the Jefferson, NJ campus of Kean University
UNION, N.J. — Kean Skylands is hosting its first Fall Learning Festival from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 29 at its campus in Jefferson, New Jersey.
Kean Skylands, Kean University’s picturesque campus in northwest New Jersey, offers programs in biology, criminal justice, management and psychology to students with some college credits who want to complete their bachelor’s degrees.
“Community is at the heart of everything we do at Kean, and this event at Kean Skylands is one more way we demonstrate that,” Kean President Lamont O. Repollet, Ed.D. said. “It is an opportunity to show our friends and neighbors how the Kean Skylands natural landscape is part of our interdisciplinary curricula.”
The festival, which is open to the Kean community and the general public, will be a fun-filled day of guided nature hikes, tours, community demonstrations and interactive seminars for all ages. The free seminars are scheduled to run from 30-60 minutes and will focus on the following topics:
Arts and Crafts: Rock Painting and Using Natural Materials
Birds of the Skylands Region
Cybersecurity
Drones and Environmental Technology
Financial Literacy
Insects of the Skylands Region
Reach for the Skylands (Mindfulness/Nature Connectivity)
Teamwork
Yoga
Located on more than 40 breathtaking acres in western Morris County, the Skylands campus, with its classrooms nestled among the trees and a three-level skywalk, is like no other campus in New Jersey. Attendees will experience the autumn beauty and immersive learning environment of Kean Skylands, which hosts community events year-round.
“The Fall Learning Festival is a chance for the Kean Skylands team to share our passion and enthusiasm about the campus and what it has to offer all of our community members,” said Robyn Roebuck, Kean Skylands director of operations. “We really want everyone to know that regardless of their age, education level or interests, the Kean Skylands campus can provide them with opportunities to learn as well as connect with nature in meaningful ways.”
