CarePlus NJ Announces 2023 Workshop Lineup for Social Workers and Professional Counselors
Virtual and in-person workshops qualify for continuing education hours
Paramus, N.J. (January 17, 2023) – Care Plus NJ, Inc. (“CarePlus NJ”), a pioneer in integrated primary and behavioral health services for adults and children, announces its 2023 lineup of educational workshops for social workers and professional counselors. The goal of CarePlus NJ’s Speaker Series is to provide professional counselors and social workers informative, valuable programming to continue their education and offer evidence-based practices they can put into immediate action.

? Addressing Domestic Violence: Interventions for Families
Date/Time: January 19, 2023; 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Summary: Hosted by Julie Roebuck, MSW, LCSW, this course will provide attendees with an overview on the impact of domestic violence on families and children. Participants will explore the challenging, systemic dynamics, propose creative advocacy strategies, and break out into groups to brainstorm ideas and interventions.

Continuing Education: 4 NBCC Clock Hours for Professional Counselors; pending approval from NASW
? Informed Consent: Working with Gender Transitioning Clients
Date/Time: February 9, 2023; 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Summary: Facilitated by Dr. Carol Clark, LMHC, CAP, CST, this workshop will explore Informed Consent for gender transitioning clients and how it extends beyond the physical effects of hormone therapy or surgery including the full spectrum of psychological, social, and environmental effects of the transition process. The session will also cover the topics on which providers need to inform transitioning clients in order for them to form reasonable expectations before, during and after transitioning.

? All The Youth Grieve: Complicated, Prolonged and Healing
Date/Time: April 27, 2023; 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Summary: Presented by Jennifer Velten, MA, LPC, ACS, CCTP, this workshop will help participants explore acute grief, complicated grief, and the new DSM 5 TR diagnoses of Prolonged Grief Disorder. Additionally, participants will learn how to integrate grief and loss, including adapting to profound changes from a resiliency framework.
