Valley Health System to Host Cardiac Screening Event for Cancer Survivors
RIDGEWOOD, NJ, March 24, 2023 – Valley Health System is hosting a cardiac screening event for individuals 18 and older who have been treated for cancer or are currently undergoing treatment. The event will be held on Saturday, April 29, from 8 a.m. to noon, at Valley’s Robert and Audrey Luckow Pavilion, located at One Valley Health Plaza in Paramus, New Jersey.
Valley’s Cardio-Oncology Program recognizes that some cancer treatments may increase the risk for cardiovascular disease.
Screenings will be conducted by a Valley nurse practitioner and include a review of the individual’s personal risk factors for developing cardiovascular disease, findings from a physical exam, and lab work analysis to determine an ASCVD (Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease) risk score. This score aids in determining an individual’s ten-year and lifetime risk of developing heart disease.
The screening will take up to 45 minutes to complete. After the screening, registrants can browse a variety of wellness tables, including nutrition counseling and stress management.
Based on the results of the screening, patients may be referred for advanced diagnostic testing to further quantify their risk. Valley employees will be available to help schedule these appointments. Cardiovascular and oncology physicians will be in attendance and available to answer questions.
The screening is free, but registration is required in advance of the event. To schedule a heart screening appointment, please visit ValleyHealth.com/Screening. The first 100 individuals who register and attend will receive a free gift at the event.
