KRE GROUP INTRODUCES CUTTING-EDGE RESIDENT FITNESS PROGRAM

Exercise and Wellness Classes by Lloyd Dickenson Fitness Now
Available to All KRE Urban Living Residents
JERSEY CITY, NJ – One of New Jersey’s top real estate developers is stepping up its fitness game with a heart-pumping new amenity.

The KRE Group (KRE) announced today that it has launched a comprehensive resident fitness program at all eight of its rental communities in Jersey City and Bayonne.

Designed and operated by Lloyd Dickenson Fitness, a Jersey City-based group of certified trainers, the program provides residents with a full array of fitness classes just steps from their front door. Residents can choose to attend the classes that appeal to them the most, based on their own individual interests and fitness goals. Or, in the true spirit of the program, they can treat the class schedule as a full training plan, similar to what they would receive from a personal trainer.

Company founder and head trainer Lloyd Dickenson designed each class to complement the next one, so residents who attend classes regularly receive a full health and wellness experience. Physically demanding classes are bulwarked by classes focused on active recovery, such as stretching and yoga.

It’s a fresh new perspective on the type of fitness programming that is possible in amenity-rich apartment communities, delivered by Mr. Dickenson, who taught a popular high intensity interval training (HIIT) class at KRE Group’s Journal Squared in Jersey City and saw room for something much bigger.

“I really enjoyed teaching the HIIT class and working with the residents of Journal Squared,” said Mr. Dickenson, who also resides in the building. “I kept thinking ‘how can we make this bigger, more exciting, and more electric?’”

At the same time, KRE was actively looking for more opportunities to provide its residents with additional amenities and services, especially programming. Mr. Dickenson connected with KRE’s management team and was brought on to provide a program that serves the company’s entire urban living portfolio, included for all residents as part of their amenity package.

Program Highlights

Currently, the fitness program is available to residents of the following KRE communities:

Journal Squared: 615 Pavonia Avenue, Jersey City

235 Grand: 235 Grand Street, Jersey City

225 Grand: 225 Grand Street, Jersey City

18 Park: 18 Park Avenue, Jersey City

485 Marin: 485 Marin Blvd., Jersey City

351 Marin: 351 Marin Blvd., Jersey City

Grove Pointe:100 Columbus Drive, Jersey City

Bay 151: 151 E. Centre Street, Bayonne

Between four and nine classes are offered every week, depending on the size of the community. Classes are held in the mornings and evenings with energetic, personable instructors who Mr. Dickenson selected because they share his passion for fitness and love for people.

“I view fitness as a way to connect with people, improve lives, and even change the world as a whole. We all have struggles and problems to overcome. That’s a common connection that people have,” Mr. Dickenson said. “When you come to our classes, you are going to feel that positive energy. You’re going to be there with your neighbors and you’re going to accomplish something together. You’re going to do something good for your body, you’re going to work hard, you’re going to recover, and you’re going to have fun doing it. If everyone can leave our classes feeling the same way, I think that is what we can do as trainers to help make the world a better place.”

Classes offered include HIIT, Pilates, yoga, cardio kickboxing, stretch + recovery, full body tone, aerobic cardio, and cycling, to name a few. They are designed to accommodate people of all fitness levels and different ages. KRE Group purchased new, state-of-the-art equipment at several communities to accommodate the robust class schedule.

Lloyd Dickenson Background

Mr. Dickenson is from St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, and came to the New York metro area by way of Miami. A former collegiate basketball player, he spent a lot of time in the gym when sidelined with an ankle injury, where he discovered his passion for fitness. After college, he became a well-known trainer in Miami. When he moved to Jersey City, one of the main reasons he chose to live at Journal Squared was because it had the best gym of all of the apartment buildings he toured. Now he has been living at Journal Squared for five years and has 18 years of experience as a trainer.

“The feedback I’ve been getting has been great,” Mr. Dickenson said. “People love the different styles of training. My class is intense. I’m loud. I’m energetic. I’m singing. Another one of our trainers might have a similar class with a different style that works for them.”

The launch of KRE’s new fitness program comes at a time when many people who put a pause on their fitness routines, either during the winter or during the entire COVID-19 pandemic, are looking to get back in shape.

“There’s new energy out there,” Mr. Dickenson said. “People are getting excited about fitness again.”

More than 130 fitness classes are now offered every month at KRE communities. At the same time, the company is stepping up its programming schedule across the board, focusing on creating new experiences for residents to enjoy that go above and beyond traditional amenity offerings. KRE celebrated the launch of the new fitness program at many of its new communities with free, healthy products brought in from local Jersey City businesses, such as Frutta Bowls and Acai Bowls, perfect for a post-workout refuel.

“We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our new portfolio-wide fitness program in Jersey City and Bayonne,” said Jonathan Kushner, President of The KRE Group. “We are actively rolling out more programs, services, and experiences for our residents than ever before. It’s an initiative we are really excited about, and this comprehensive new fitness program is a major component.”
