Garden Communities Ribbon Cutting Celebrates The Jefferson’s Grand Opening

Outdoor Amenities Debut Completes Luxury Rental Lifestyle in Hackensack

HACKENSACK, N.J. (May 25, 2023) – Garden Communities this month celebrated the grand opening of The Jefferson, a highly amenitized luxury rental community in Uptown Hackensack. The formal ribbon cutting coincided with the debut of the community’s outdoor amenities suite – effectively putting the finishing touches on The Jefferson’s resort-at-home lifestyle.

Local officials joined Garden Communities and other key stakeholders affiliated with the project at the invitation-only grand opening event. The program included a brief ceremony with comments from Hackensack Mayor John Labrosse, Deputy Mayor Kathleen Canestrino and Scott Loventhal, managing director of Garden Communities.

“When this project first got underway, we knew it was a great concept and great opportunity for the City,” said Mayor Labrosse. “Garden Communities’ wisdom and vision saw what could be done here, and the outcome is a best-in-class multifamily development.”

Canestrino echoed this sentiment. “In Hackensack we are truly partners with our developers, and The Jefferson is an example of a wonderful partnership where the end product is outstanding,” she noted.

The milestone marks an exciting chapter in The Jefferson’s ongoing evolution, according to Loventhal. “This transformational project contributes to Uptown Hackensack’s resurgence and underscores the incredible renaissance that is underway throughout this vibrant Bergen County community” he said. “We are grateful to Mayor Labrosse, Deputy Mayor Canestrino and City officials for supporting our vision throughout every stage of this endeavor.”

Located at 2 Kinderkamack Road, The Jefferson began welcoming residents last fall. Upon completion, the community will include 377 one- and two-bedroom apartments, with the homes being introduced in phases. The development is more than 50% leased and occupied.

Designed by Minno & Wasko Architects and Planners, The Jefferson features thoughtfully designed apartments appointed with oversize windows, dramatic living spaces and private balconies in almost every residence. Gourmet center-island kitchens, in-suite washers and dryers, and ample closet space are additional highlights. In-apartment conveniences include individually controlled heating and air conditioning, Latch smart-access keyless entry, and more.

All-Encompassing Lifestyle

The Jefferson’s lifestyle is completed by acres of amenities, showcased by a welcoming and elegant double-height lobby with fireplace. Indoor recreational features include state-of-the-art fitness centers, private bowling alleys, a billiards and entertainment room, golf simulator, and children’s playroom. Outside, The Jefferson offers a heated pool and furnished sundecks with Manhattan skyline views, landscaped courtyards, fire pits, outdoor BBQs and dining areas, yoga and meditation gardens, and a dog park.

Residents also enjoy a concierge-attended lobby with a coffee bar, secure package delivery, business center, and indoor parking.

Along with a commuter-friendly address – moments away from the NJ Transit New Bridge Landing-River Edge train station, one-quarter mile from Route 4 and just seven miles from Manhattan – The Jefferson offers abundant neighborhood amenities. This includes The Shops at Riverside, Restaurant Row, Whole Foods and Hackensack’s Uptown Brewery District.
