HACKENSACK MAYOR JOHN LABROSSE JOINS HORNROCK PROPERTIES TO CELEBRATE FIRST PHASE OF LUXURY RENTALS AT IVY AND GREEN
Municipal Officials Hail Downtown Growth at Ribbon Cutting Ceremony For New Six-Story Building Located at 1 Park Avenue
HACKENSACK, N.J. June 19, 2023 – Hackensack city leaders recently joined principals of development partners Hornrock Properties and GTIS Partners to formerly open Ivy and Green, a new luxury rental community that represents the latest example of the administration’s vision to reimagine the downtown with new mixed-use developments.
Mayor John Labrosse and Deputy Mayor Kathleen Canestrino led a special ribbon cutting ceremony marking the completion of Ivy and Green’s first phase of 221 well-appointed rental residences and next-level indoor and outdoor amenities. The development was praised for further energizing downtown Hackensack and bridging its bustling River and Main Streets to Foschini Park and the Hackensack River waterfront.
Located at 1 Park Avenue, Ivy and Green has transformed a former city-owned parking lot within an Opportunity Zone into a modern residential building that is helping to meet the strong demand for new contemporary residences and thoughtfully-curated amenities within the burgeoning Hackensack market. Leasing is underway at the community, with 50% of the first phase of residences spoken for and residents moving in daily, according to the developer. Construction has started on a second building that will deliver 168 units in late 2023.
“Going back to 2013, this was an underutilized parking lot in an area that was about to undergo tremendous growth,” said Mayor Labrosse. “Ten years later and we are now standing in a beautiful new building in an outstanding location. Hornrock Properties and their partners have created a beautiful development that will be enjoyed by residents for years to come.”
In speaking about the early stages of the process of working with Hornrock Properties, Deputy Mayor Kathleen Canestrino said “What came from that was Hornrock seeing the City had strong leadership and a vision and the City coming to see Hornrock had strong leadership and a vision. Once aligned and a mutual respect was developed, a true partnership was formed. That partnership is something I think will live long and this building is a true testament to that.”
Maurice Hornblass, a principal of Hornrock Properties, stated “We’ve long believed in the potential of Hackensack as a thriving destination and are thrilled to introduce Ivy and Green which is the next step in the evolution of the city’s flourishing downtown. We would like thank Mayor Labrosse and Deputy Mayor Canestrino for their vision and support in bringing this development to life, and we look forward to continuing to contribute to the growth of this great city.”
Amit Rind, Managing Director at GTIS Partners, noted “I think we have the best building in the city and will deliver our residents a fantastic living experience. We’re thrilled to be in Hackensack, not just building apartments, but building homes and playing a role in the ongoing development of this community.”
