Local Business Owner Hosts United Against DV Event to Combat Domestic Violence in Bergen County

Event will feature a fireside chat with award-winning author of No Visible Bruises, Rachel Louise Snyder, and honor National Coalition Against Domestic Violence President Ruth Glenn

Paramus, NJ - August 30, 2023 – In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, David Lloyd and his company LG&P, a leading retail solutions provider, will host a United Against DV event to help combat domestic violence in Bergen County. Lloyd and LG&P have partnered with Center for Hope & Safety, Bergen County’s only not-for-profit agency dedicated to helping adults and children rebuild their lives beyond domestic violence and abuse, to create a powerful evening that will closely examine the complexities of domestic abuse and how our communities can be a catalyst for breaking the cycle of abuse. United Against DV will take place on October 18, 2023 from 4 PM – 7PM at LG&P’s Headquarters located at 610 Winters Ave, Paramus, NJ.

The event will feature an intimate conversation led by Julye Myner, Ph.D., Executive Director of Center for Hope & Safety, with the nation’s leading writer on domestic violence, Rachel Louise Snyder, who will dismantle the myths surrounding domestic violence and discuss her New York Times Top Ten Book, No Visible Bruises. Lloyd will present domestic violence survivor and National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) President, Ruth Glenn, with the IMPACT award during the event in recognition of her work and advocacy for victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

Domestic violence statistics are startling. The World Health Organization has called domestic violence a global health problem of epidemic proportions. In America, more than half of all murdered women are killed by a current or former partner. In Bergen County, New Jersey, Center for Hope & Safety answers more than 7,500 calls per year to its 24/7 hotline.

“What Rachel’s book highlights so well is that domestic violence is happening everywhere and that means in our own communities,” said Lloyd, Founder and CEO of LG&P. “Reading it was yet another reminder that so many people in our local and larger communities are suffering and that domestic abuse can have so many different faces. Together, I know we can make a difference for victims and survivors and our United Against DV event is a step towards making meaningful change locally by providing a safe space to talk about the different forms of abuse, educate one another and find ways to take action.”

In 2021, LG&P pledged its commitment to Center for Hope & Safety and its mission of rebuilding lives beyond domestic violence as incidents of domestic abuse dramatically increased during the pandemic. Since, LG&P has unveiled a multifaceted support strategy for both employee and corporate contributions.

“David and his team have been such an incredible partner in helping to support and enhance our mission,” said Julye Myner, Ph.D., Executive Director of Center for Hope & Safety. “To create an entire event on our behalf speaks volumes to his dedication to our community and our cause. I am excited to sit down with Rachel and share her insights about domestic violence in our society.”

100% of the proceeds from the event will go to support Center for Hope & Safety’s mission and will be used to assist victims and survivors of domestic violence in Bergen County by providing emergency and transitional housing, emotional support, and a continuum of services focused on safety, empowerment and self-sufficiency.

“LG&P is extremely honored to host such powerful leaders in the fight to stop domestic violence,” added Lloyd. “Rachel, Ruth and Julye have spent decades working to help those affected by domestic violence and have been instrumental in raising awareness in our community and nationwide. Collectively we share the same mission and we are proud that all funds raised from this event will support our local community.”

Tickets for United Against DV are $175 each, and sponsorships are on sale now. Both can be purchased now at www.UnitedAgainstDV.com. LG&P is grateful to Bernstein Private Wealth Management, BluEdge, Bluefin, BMO Harris Bank, Namoji, Sills Cummis, SSLCPA, TWM360 and Versatek for their support and sponsorships of the event which will feature a cocktail hour, author conversation, award presentation, book signing and meet and greet with Snyder.
