“REFLECTIONS” HOLDING AUDITIONS/INTERVIEWS FOR FUTURE MEMBERS

BERGEN COUNTY - "Reflections," a county-sponsored community outreach program for teenagers will hold auditions/interviews for Bergen County teens,  9th-12th graders, on Tuesday November 14, 2023 or Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 1 Bergen County Plaza in Hackensack, from 5:30pm-8:00pm.

            "Reflections”, in its 33rd year, is a project of the county Department of Human Services, Division of Family Guidance. Comprised of teenagers who volunteer their time to the program as a community service, the group has performed all over Bergen County, as well as outside the area for a variety of different professional conferences.           

            Performances target school and community groups before which the ensemble presents improvised scenes based on issues that confront young people.  These include self-esteem, mental health , peer pressure, parent/teen communication, decision-making, prejudice, cyberbullying, dating, sexuality, substance abuse, etc. The performances are followed by interactive discussions between members of the audience and cast members, who stay in character for the post-performance sessions. Reflections cast members also volunteer their time to help lead improvisational workshops with different groups in the community, teaching others what they have learned.

            Rehearsal sessions are on Tuesday nights at One Bergen County Plaza in Hackensack.  Teens themselves need to schedule their audition appointments by contacting the Reflections coordinator, Staci Block, MSW, LCSW at (201) 336-7361 or SBlock@co.bergen.nj.us.
