Valley Medical Group Opens Comprehensive LGBTQ+ Care Center

RIDGEWOOD, NJ, March 13, 2024 – Valley Medical Group is proud to announce the opening of Valley’s Center for LGBTQ+ Care, which will provide comprehensive healthcare services for the LGBTQ+ community in an inviting and safe space.

Valley recently welcomed Raffaele M. Bernardo, DO, FACP, AAHIVS, Medical Director of LGBTQ+ Services for Valley Medical Group, who will oversee operations of the Center and see patients as a primary care physician.

In addition to primary care services, the Center will offer HIV prevention services and treatment; transgender care, including gender-affirming hormone therapy; gynecologic services; sexual health services; referrals to fertility services; and more. Should a patient require a visit with a specialist, staff at the Center will refer them to an LGBTQ+-affirming Valley specialist. All members of the Center’s staff have received both cultural and sensitivity training to provide LGBTQ+ care.

“We are here to provide members of the LGBTQ+ community the comprehensive healthcare they deserve in a safe and affirming space,” said Dr. Bernardo. “We want to eliminate healthcare disparities, optimize access to care, and improve healthcare outcomes within the community by providing a place where patients can receive the care they need under one roof, with referrals to allied health professionals, if needed.”
