CarePlus NJ Named as “Health Care Hero” by NJBIZ for Steadfast Efforts to Make Mental Health Services Available for All
Paramus, N.J. (June 26, 2024) – Care Plus NJ, Inc. (“CarePlus”), a pioneer in integrated primary and behavioral health services for adults and children, has been recognized as one of NJBIZ’s Health Care Heroes.
The annual program honors the efforts of individuals and organizations making a significant impact on the quality of healthcare in New Jersey. All NJBIZ’s Health Care Heroes were celebrated on June 25 at The Palace at Somerset Park.
With a presence in Bergen for over 45 years and Passaic and Essex for more than 20 years, CarePlus NJ offers far-reaching support to address a full range of integrated primary health care services for those with mental illness, substance use disorder or coexisting conditions through over 80+ programs annually, serving over 14,000 children, adults and families. Services are offered at 49 sites, including four outpatient centers, ten residential facilities, and seven community offices.
CarePlus NJ offers crisis services, including 24/7/365 mobile crisis teams; emergency crisis intervention and crisis stabilization; screening, assessment, and diagnosis; patient-centered treatment planning; outpatient mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) services; primary care screening and monitoring; targeted case management; psychiatric rehabilitation services; peer support services and family support services; social support and housing services; and services for members of the armed services and veterans.
“Mental health challenges are prevalent for almost everyone in one way or another. But, not everyone faces the same vulnerability or has the same ability to seek and receive treatment, causing many who are suffering to go without needed help,” said Brigitte Johnson, Esq., President / CEO, CarePlus NJ. “At CarePlus NJ, our staff continuously works to expand access to quality, compassionate mental health and addiction care for everyone who needs it, regardless of their circumstances; it is an honor for us to receive this recognition from NJBIZ.”
CarePlus is expanding access to treatment through their collaboration with Integrity House and Rutgers Medical School to establish Care Plus Bergen and by partnering with law enforcement on Crisis Intervention Team Training, Psychiatric Emergency Screening Program, ARRIVE Together, and 988 Mobile Crisis Outreach Response Team to aid individuals in crisis. In addition, CarePlus opened the Paradigm Therapeutic Day School in 2018, which meets the emotional and behavioral needs of those ages 12-21 and has partnered with Children's Aid and Family Services and other community providers to provide support services for students and families through the NJ4S Bergen program.
CarePlus Workforce Solutions, a non-profit social enterprise focused on mental health care that provides employment and training opportunities for disabled and economically disadvantaged individuals, addresses social determinants of health by providing wrap-around services that provide provisions and support for employment, education, housing, and financial assistance.
