Mr. Gone Says Hello at Bergen Community College
PARAMUS, N.J. – Mr. Gone, a band “keeping the flame of psychedelic electric jazz burning,” will celebrate the genre’s legends during an October performance presented by the Institute for the Creative Arts at Bergen Community College.
The concert, which will honor the 50th anniversary of Herbie Hancock’s “Head Hunters” and saxophonist Wayne Shorter, will take place on Thursday, October 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre at the College’s main campus (400 Paramus Road). Mr. Gone, comprised of Bergen Professor Peter Furlan (saxes), Neil Alexander (keys), Charlie Dougherty (bass) and Bryan Kopchak (drums), pays tribute to bands such as Weather Report and the Headhunters while also releasing original compositions.
Based in Paramus, Bergen Community College (www.bergen.edu), a public two-year coeducational college, enrolls more than 13,000 students at locations in Paramus, the Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack and Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst. The College offers associate degree, certificate and continuing education programs in a variety of fields. More students graduate from Bergen than any other community college in the state.
