Bergen County Executive and Commissioners Receive Generous Donations for Homeless Shelter

Hackensack – Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco and the Bergen County Board of Commissioners visited the Bergen County Homeless Shelter to accept generous donations from the Fort Lee Chinese American Community Association (FLCA), the Cultural Society of Bergen County, and the Philippine Nurses Association of Bergen.

FLCA, which makes annual contributions to the shelter, provided a variety of essential items, including 50 pairs of men’s new shoes—donated by corporate sponsors—as well as winter clothing and hygiene products collected from residents and volunteers.

The donations included a range of essential winter clothing, with FLCA providing 18 scarves, 12 winter ear covers, 32 gloves, three long coats, six sweaters, two hats, and 32 baby and child clothing items. They also contributed bedding and childcare items, including a blanket, a pair of baby shoes, and a child play mat set. Additionally, hygiene and household supplies such as seven bottles of dish wash, two bottles of body wash, three packs of disinfecting wipes, three bottles of shampoo, two containers of laundry detergent, two bottles of body cream, and four soap bars were donated.

The Philippine Nurses Association of Bergen contributed 30 winter coats to help residents stay warm during the colder months. The Cultural Society of Bergen County provided 115 blankets, 1,000 toothbrushes, each with toothpaste, and five large juice boxes, ensuring shelter residents have access to essential hygiene products and comfort items.

“These donations make a real difference in the lives of those we serve,” said Commissioner Rafael Marte. “We are grateful for the generosity of these organizations and their ongoing commitment to supporting our community.”

“These generous donations provide critical support to our most vulnerable residents,” said Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco. “We are grateful to the Fort Lee Chinese American Community Association, the Cultural Society of Bergen County, and the Philippine Nurses Association of Bergen for their kindness and commitment to helping those in need.”

The Bergen County Executive and Commissioners extend their heartfelt appreciation to the Fort Lee Chinese American Community Association, the Cultural Society of Bergen County, and the Philippine Nurses Association of Bergen for their generosity and continued support of the county’s efforts to assist those in need.
