This Bergenstages Performance is a “Farce”

PARAMUS, N.J. – The Bergen Institute for the Creative Arts (BICA) and Bergenstages will present a production of Paul Slade Smith’s award-winning comedy, “Unnecessary Farce,” this month in the Ender Hall Lab Theatre at Bergen Community College’s main campus in Paramus (400 Paramus Road).
Directed by Professor Peter Helff, the play follows two undercover cops in an economy motel room waiting to catch an embezzling mayor meeting with his accountant. The story takes various turns as unexpected events take place, from stolen money to hitman arrivals. The crime-driven comedy will take the audience on a ride through wild events while expertly and comically defining “farce.” The play is rated PG-13 for adult situations and language.
Performances take place on Friday, October 24; Saturday, October 25; Thursday, October 30; Friday, October 31; and Saturday, November 31 at 7:30 p.m. Matinee performances take place on Saturday, October 25 and Saturday, November 1 at 2 p.m. Audiences are invited to attend a special post-show audience talk-back immediately following the October 30 performance.
Tickets are $18 for general admission, $12 for seniors (age 65+) and $5 for all students. For seats, visit tickets.bergen.edu or call (201) 447-7428.
