Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County Hosts the Race to Build 5K Sunday Oct 19th

Community Run/Walk to Raise Funds for Affordable Housing
Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County is excited to welcome Bergen County Commissioner Thomas Sullivan, Bergen County Clerk John Hogan, and Mayor Mark Zinna of Tenafly to the Race to Build 5K and One-Mile Walk, taking place on Sunday, October 19, 2025.

This exciting community event invites runners, walkers, families, and supporters of all ages to come together in support of Habitat Bergen’s mission to build safe, affordable homes for local families in need.

The Race to Build 5K will take place in Overpeck Park, Ridgefield Park NJ, offering participants a scenic and energizing course. In addition to the 5K run, the event includes a family-friendly one-mile walk, ensuring everyone—regardless of age or fitness level—can take part. The event will take place on a USATF certified course and is a Paul Miller Grand Prix series event worth 500 points.

5K Race Start Time: 9:00 AM (check-in begins at 7:30 AM). 1-Mile Walk 8:30 AM Opening Ceremony/Remarks 8:15AM

Events: 5K Run, 1-Mile Walk

The Race to Build 5K will also feature refreshments and both 5K and 1-Mile Walk registrants receive a t-shirt. Medal categories will be in 5 year age brackets.

Funds raised will directly support Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County’s ongoing projects, ensuring that more families can achieve the dream of homeownership and break the cycle of housing insecurity.
