The Salvation Army Calls for Support as Rising Costs and SNAP Uncertainty Drive Increased Need
Union, NJ — As families across New Jersey face rising costs and ongoing uncertainty surrounding SNAP benefits, The Salvation Army remains committed to providing support to communities throughout New Jersey.
“With families facing financial pressure and now changes in SNAP benefits, we know that even more households will turn to The Salvation Army for support,” said Major Brett DeMichael, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army New Jersey Division. “From experience, we see that the holiday season brings the highest demand for food, rent, and utility assistance, and this year that need is expected to be greater than ever. Our faith compels us to take action, serving everyone who turns to us for help and ensuring no one is left without support.”
Last year alone, The Salvation Army provided nearly 6 million meals across New Jersey through food pantries, soup kitchens, and mobile canteens, ensuring families, seniors, and individuals did not go hungry. With demand on the rise and the cost of providing services increasing, this year’s support from the public will be more critical than ever.
The Salvation Army is calling on individuals, businesses, and community partners to join in its mission this season to meet growing needs across the state. The organization serves every ZIP code in New Jersey, and every donation — big or small — helps a neighbor in need.
“The best way to help those in need is to provide a financial contribution,” added Major DeMichael. “When you donate to The Salvation Army, your gift stays in your community and helps us make hope a reality for those who seek our assistance.”
