Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation to Honor Hall of Fame Football Star Harry Carson at Annual Urology Research and Education Symposium

October 29, 2025 – Hackensack, NJ –  On Thursday, November 13, Hackensack Meridian Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation will host its annual 2025 Urology Research and Education Symposium at the Edgewood Country Club in River Vale, NJ. The event will honor former New York Giant pro football hall of fame linebacker Harry Carson, and proceeds will support urologic research, education and innovation at the Department of Urology at Hackensack Meridian Hackensack University Medical Center.

“Our annual Urology Research and Education Symposium is an event that I truly look forward to every year,” said Michael Stifelman, M.D., department chair, Department of Urology, Hackensack University Medical Center, and professor and chair, Urology, Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. “Our Department of Urology is consistently ranked as a top program by U.S. News & World Report - this year ranked the number one program in New Jersey - and this event allows us to highlight our talented physicians, team members and work. I look forward to seeing our partners, friends and donors, as well as meeting new friends this year.”

This year’s event will include a cocktail reception with dinner, technology exhibition, a presentation and a urology panel discussion led by Dr. Stifelman with speakers Mutahar Ahmed, M.D., Debra Lynn Fromer, M.D., Laurence Hou, M.D. and Richard N. Schlussel, M.D.

“Philanthropy drives innovation and we have witnessed it transform patient care, especially in the Department of Urology at Hackensack University Medical Center,” said Richard Knupp, vice president of Development, North at Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation. “This year’s symposium will bring together our care teams, patients and dedicated supporters who make a lasting impact on world-class urologic patient care.”

Funds raised will also continue to benefit Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation’s Be The Difference campaign, launched in September 2024. The Be The Difference campaign is a transformational effort focusing on four key pillars: enhancing the delivery of patient care, accelerating groundbreaking research and discovery, ensuring access to care for all and revolutionizing medical education while supporting the nursing profession. Through this ambitious campaign, Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation aims to reshape health care for patients, clinicians and the diverse communities it serves, paving the way for a brighter, healthier future.

This year’s Symposium is sponsored by Lexion, Winifred M. & George P. Pitkin Foundation and Procept BioRobotics.
