VANGO DEVELOPMENT BREAKS GROUND ON THE VANTAGE IN WESTFIELD, NJ

Mixed-Use Development to Deliver 60 Upscale Rental Residences, Modern Amenities, and Historic Relocation Bordering Westfield’s Vibrant Downtown

WESTFIELD, NJ – Vango Development announced today that ground has been broken on The Vantage, a four-story mixed-use development rising at 112 Ferris Place within Downtown Westfield. The project will introduce 60 rental residences, including nine affordable housing units, above an underground parking garage and a ground-floor retail space in one of New Jersey’s most walkable and desirable suburban downtowns. The community is scheduled to welcome its first residents in early 2027.

The start of construction was marked with a ceremonial groundbreaking event, attended by Westfield Mayor Shelley Brindle, members of the Town Council, former municipal officials, and other stakeholders, celebrating the beginning of this highly anticipated development.

“Breaking ground on The Vantage is an important moment for both Vango Development and the Town of Westfield,” said Van Golemis, CEO of Vango Development. “This project reflects years of planning and the collective efforts of both the current administration and the leadership that came before it, whose guidance helped shape a thoughtful redevelopment plan for Prospect and Ferris. I’d also like to thank James Ward for making this opportunity possible, as well as Bruce Stieve of MHS Architecture and Matthew Seckler of Stonefield Engineering & Design for their contributions. Our goal is to deliver a building that fits seamlessly into the neighborhood, honors the site’s history, and provides a sophisticated new residential option for those who love Westfield’s quality of life.”

As a key component of the Town of Westfield’s “Prospect & Ferris Redevelopment Plan,” adopted in 2021, The Vantage reflects the town’s vision for a thoughtfully integrated mixed-use district.

“I’m thrilled to see The Vantage get underway, which represents the smart development ideals that have guided our planning process,” said Westfield Mayor Shelley Brindle. “I’m very grateful to James Ward for his vision, commitment to the preservation of the historic Mills-Ferris-Pearsall House, and the substantial amount of time and investment he made to bring this project to approval, and of course to Vango Development for their seasoned experience as they see it through for the benefit of the community.”

Honoring History Through Adaptive Reuse

A centerpiece of the project is the careful relocation and adaptive reuse of the Mills-Ferris-Pearsall House, an 18th-century home designated as a historic landmark by the Town of Westfield. The structure will be restored and transformed into a community-facing educational and cultural resource, ensuring its history remains an active part of the site’s future.

Thoughtful Design Rooted in Community Context

Designed by CPA Architecture and MHS Architecture, The Vantage will feature a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom floorplans (30, 28, and two units, respectively), including three live-work units offering separate entrances to support flexible living and professional needs. A single ground-floor retail space at the corner of Prospect Street and Ferris Place will contribute to neighborhood convenience and street activation. The height, massing, exterior detailing, and landscaping have been intentionally designed to respect neighborhood character and create a welcoming architectural entry into Downtown Westfield.

Homes envisioned by Rene Pabon of The Childs Dreyfus Group are being crafted with upscale finishes and appointments, including high ceilings, luxury plank flooring, quartz countertops, soft-close cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, spa-inspired bathrooms with Kohler fixtures.  Additional features include energy-efficient central heat and air, full-size in-home washers and dryers, and modern conveniences such as Amazon Hub package lockers, ButterflyMX building access and EV charging stations.

A thoughtfully landscaped amenity courtyard will include outdoor lounging areas, an outdoor kitchen and dining space, and a clubhouse with fitness facilities for residents and their guests. The site’s bicycle-friendly streets and proximity to downtown reinforce a lifestyle centered on wellness and connection. Dedicated bicycle parking is also provided as an amenity.

The company is also actively developing The Parker East in East Rutherford, a five-story, 86-unit mixed-use building featuring modern apartments and retail space. Through these projects and others, Vango is committed to creating walkable, amenity-rich living environments that respect the character of the communities it serves.
