Oakland Rehab & Healthcare Welcomes Pulmonologist Dr. Reza Farhangfar to Clinical Leadership

Appointment Follows National Best Nursing Home Nod

OAKLAND, N.J. (Aug. 11, 2026) — Oakland Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Bergen County welcomes pulmonologist Reza Farhangfar, MD, as co-director of its established RespiraCare Pulmonary Rehab program. The appointment coincides with recognition as one of America’s Best Nursing Homes for the third consecutive year by Newsweek.

Oakland’s RespiraCare Pulmonary Rehab is designed to enhance lung function and support overall well-being after an illness or hospitalization. Services are tailored to assist individuals with all levels of pulmonary function, from newly diagnosed patients to those managing chronic respiratory conditions. Dr. Farhangfar joins pulmonologists Dr. Rakesh Sharma and Dr. Malwinder Singh as a co-director of Oakland’s RespiraCare.

Dr. Farhangfar is board certified in pulmonology, sleep medicine and pulmonary critical care. He is affiliated with Valley Health’s Valley Medical Group and Atlantic Health’s Chilton Medical Center. “The Oakland team is pleased to welcome Dr. Farhangfar, who is well known in the region for his pulmonology expertise and caring manner,” said Erin Studt, regional director of network development at Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports the center. 

Oakland is among a small number of northern New Jersey skilled nursing centers designated by Atlantic Health System (AHS) as a Pulmonary Integrated Care (PIC) partner. The PIC program is designed to improve post acute care and clinical management of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pneumonia diagnoses by ensuring continuity and consistency of pulmonary care delivery through collaborative clinical management, staff education, performance improvement and more.

Newsweek’s 2026 list, in partnership with global data intelligence firm Statista, recognizes the top 1,200 nursing homes across the nation. Facilities were evaluated on four pillars including performance data, peer recommendations accreditations and resident satisfaction, with performance data carrying an increased weight in 2026 to reflect the growing emphasis on clinical quality metrics.
