SUCCESSFUL CLEAR THE SHELTERS WEEKEND AT BERGEN COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER AND ADOPTION CENTER
59 Pets Find Loving Homes; Adoptions Double From Last Year
TETERBORO, NJ – Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco and the Bergen County Board of Commissioners are proud to announce that 59 pets found loving homes following a successful Clear The Shelters weekend at the Bergen County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center in Teterboro.
This year’s weekend campaign resulted in the adoption of nine dogs, three birds, and 47 cats. In comparison, last year’s Clear The Shelters weekend resulted in 33 total adoptions: seven dogs and 26 cats.
“This significant increase in adoptions reflects the dedication of the Bergen County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center and its staff, and their commitment to finding families for the animals in our care,” said Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco. “We are incredibly proud to see that so many pets found their forever homes this weekend, and we hope to continue this momentum in the years ahead” continued County Executive Tedesco.
“The success of this weekend’s Clear The Shelters event demonstrates the importance of the County’s ongoing support for the Bergen County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center and its programs,” said Commissioner Joan Voss. “We appreciate everyone who came out to adopt, and we remain committed to providing the resources needed to help more animals find safe, loving homes.”
“We are grateful to everyone who came out this weekend to support the Shelter,” said Bob Bergamini, Director of the Bergen County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center. “Our team works closely with each of these animals and cares for them deeply. Seeing them placed into loving homes is incredibly rewarding, and we look forward to continuing our mission of clearing out the shelters,” continued Director Bergamini.
To promote the campaign and encourage participation, all adoption fees were waived throughout the weekend. Adopters were required to complete an adoption application and meet other standard adoption criteria.
Hosted by NBCUniversal Local, and in partnership with hundreds of animal shelters across the country, Clear The Shelters is an annual, nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign. Since 2015, more than 1 million pets have found their forever homes through the Clear The Shelters campaign.
