The action releases Federal funding to those in Bergen County who sustained losses from September 1 to September 3 as a result of Hurricane Ida. Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.

Bergen County residents and business owners can apply for disaster relief directly by visiting www.DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (local time) seven days a week until further notice. FEMA has also dispatched a mobile assistance unit to Bergen County to answer questions and help residents complete disaster relief applications in-person. The unit will be stationed at the Lodi Shop Rite located at 175 Main Street, Lodi from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7 and Wednesday, September 8. An announcement regarding additional locations will be forthcoming.

PSE&G has also set up a Customer Care Center at Samuel Nelkin County Park at the corner of Rose Street and Maple Avenue in Wallington. The Customer Care Center is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7 and Wednesday, September 8.
