Paramus, N.J. (March 4, 2022) – The CarePlus Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports the innovative and life-changing programs and services of Care Plus NJ, Inc. (“CarePlus NJ”) and its subsidiaries, announces it will be hosting its annual 2022 Educational Conference titled “The Power of Compassion: How Mindfulness Prevents Burnout and Improves Care” on Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. via Zoom. The goal of the conference is to provide educators, mental health professionals, healthcare workers, medical and nursing staff with tools, data and evidence-based practices they can put into immediate action in order to prevent burnout and improve patient care.

The conference will feature workshops from Stephen Trzeciak, MD, MPH, Medical Director at Cooper University Health Care and Ken Verni, PsyD, Founder and Director of New Jersey Center for Mindful Awareness. Dr. Trzeciak’s session will uncover the eye-opening data on the power of compassion and discuss the vast benefits of compassion for patients across a wide range of conditions and the devastating effects missed opportunities for compassion can have. Dr. Verni will provide valuable insight on compassion fatigue for healthcare workers and outline the benefits of practicing mindfulness including the ability to respond instead of reacting when facing professional, personal and interpersonal stressors.

“Compassion and mindfulness are often thought of as self-care techniques, but their impact on patient care can be profound,” said Caitlyn Yerves, Senior Director or Marketing & Community Relations CarePlus NJ. “At a time of great uncertainty, burnout, and elevated stress levels, many professionals will benefit from these educational sessions which will provide scientific evidence that these practices are much more than ‘feel-good’ activities and learn how they can significantly impact healthcare outcomes as well as provider wellbeing.”

The cost of registration is $80. LCSWs and LPCs and will receive four continuing education hours for participating in this course. All participants must attend the full conference day and must complete the course evaluation online. Certificates of Completion and Continuing Education Certificates will be awarded to participants who meet all requirements at the end of the workshop.
