Bergen New Bridge Medical Center Cuts Ribbon on New 3D Mammography Unit

Celebrates Women’s Equality Day by Furthering Healthcare Equity

(Paramus, NJ) – Bergen New Bridge Medical Center cut the ribbon for its new 3D Mammography unit on August 26, 2022, Women’s Equality Day. This unit is specially designed for patient comfort by combining special mood lighting with patented comfort compression paddles and it provides early diagnosis, more accurate detection, and fast acquisition.

“It is so fitting that the ribbon cutting for this unit was on Women’s Equality Day. While this day was created to initially celebrate the 19th Amendment guaranteeing women the right to vote, it has grown to represent so much more said Deborah Visconi, President and CEO of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. “For us, today is about furthering our commitment to women’s healthcare equity by ensuring state-of-the-art technology is accessible to all, particularly those traditionally underserved. I am proud of my team’s dedication to our mission and grateful for the support of our County Executive and elected officials which fuels our continued growth and ever-increasing ability to provide quality care for our diverse communities.”

“This ribbon cutting is yet another example of the impressive and ongoing transformation at the County’s public hospital, Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, the largest public hospital in New Jersey,” said Jim Tedesco, Bergen County Executive. “Thanks to our outstanding leadership team and critical enhancements to the Mammography Unit at Bergen New Bridge, the facility has evolved not only into a tremendous hub of healthcare, but a shining community asset and I am excited for what the future of the facility holds.”

“As a surgeon, I know the importance of life saving diagnostic technology, such as our new 3D mammography,” said Christopher Kollar, MD, Chair of Surgery at Bergen New Bridge. “It is important that all women have access to screenings because early detection makes a difference in outcomes. I am proud to be part of the amazing growth and transformation of this Medical Center.”
