NJ TRANSIT TRANSFORMS WOODBRIDGE TRAIN STATION INTO ‘HOME OF BERKELEY COLLEGE’

NJ TRANSIT and Berkeley College announced a three-year marketing partnership transforming the North Jersey Coast Line’s Woodbridge Station into the “Home of Berkeley College,” during a ceremony on Monday, November 28, 2022.

Berkeley College will have category-exclusive advertising rights at the train station, located across the street from the College’s Woodbridge campus. The initiative aligns with Berkeley College’s 40th anniversary in Woodbridge, NJ.

“Berkeley College has been an integral part of the Woodbridge community for four decades,” said Kevin L. Luing, Board Chairman, Berkeley College. “While a lot has changed in the last 40 years, the College has held steadfast to its mission of empowering students to achieve lifelong success in dynamic careers. The establishment of NJ TRANSIT’s Woodbridge Station as ‘Home of Berkeley College’ celebrates this legacy.”

The “Home of Berkeley College” campaign will feature advertising throughout Woodbridge Station’s media and sign extensions.

“Berkeley College has supported more than 65,000 alumni on their educational and career journeys,” said Diane Recinos, EdD, President of Berkeley College. “As our students and graduates board a NJ TRANSIT train and see the Berkeley College name, I hope they will feel pride in their alma mater and know that they are well-prepared in their roles as tomorrow’s business leaders.”

“The partnership between Berkeley College and NJ TRANSIT is yet another example of the dynamic and innovative projects that NJ TRANSIT undertakes to benefit passengers and communities alike,” said New Jersey Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez. “I am glad to see partnerships likes these take place in my district and am proud that now Woodbridge Station will be the home of Berkeley College.”

During the ceremony, officials acknowledged Berkeley College’s long history in Woodbridge Township. In honor of its 90th anniversary in 2021, Berkeley College planted a commemorative cherry tree outside of Woodbridge Town Hall to symbolize the College’s strong roots in the community. The College was the recent recipient of the 2022 Business Education Partnership Champion Award from the Woodbridge Metro Chamber of Commerce, and College officials have served in various roles with the Chamber and Township committees. Berkeley College students have also served as interns and are employed by the Township and local businesses.

“The NJ TRANSIT and Berkeley College partnership represents another milestone in the downtown Woodbridge Renaissance,” said John E. McCormac, Mayor of Woodbridge Township. “Both NJ TRANSIT and Berkeley represent more than 40 years as fixtures in the downtown Woodbridge landscape. We are extremely proud to be the home of the NJ TRANSIT Woodbridge Station and Berkeley College.”

“NJ TRANSIT is proud to partner with Berkeley College to promote this local institution of higher learning to students, faculty, and all those who use our Woodbridge Station,” said Kevin S. Corbett, President and CEO, NJ TRANSIT.
