NCJW HOSTS MEETING ON AVOIDING SCAMS AND SCHEMES

Seven Tips from WABC 7 on Your Side’s, and local Bergen County Resident, Nina Pineda

TEANECK, NJ (May 4, 2023) - The National Council of Jewish Women Bergen County Section (NCJW BCS), a grassroots organization of volunteers and advocates who turn progressive ideals into action, will host WABC’s Nina Pineda at their general meeting, which is open to the public, on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 12:30pm. Ms. Pineda, the host of “7 on Your Side,” will present “Seven Tips on Avoiding Scams and Schemes”. The meeting will take place at Temple Emeth, located at 1666 Windsor Rd, Teaneck.

Nina Pineda is an award-winning broadcast journalist who has covered some of the biggest stories of her generation and is the face of WABC-TV's "7 On Your Side." For the last four years, Ms. Pineda and her team hit a milestone for WABC viewers - helping victims of Superstorm Sandy and defrauded consumers gain back more than $1,000,000 through the station's consumer help unit.

Ms. Pineda’s live reporting has taken her from the center of some of the worst natural disasters in the United States, Hurricane Katrina and Superstorm Sandy, to some of the country's most historic moments, the inauguration of President Barack Obama and the attacks on 9/11. Her reports on September 11, 2001 from underneath the World Trade Center Towers helped earn her and her colleagues at WABC and ABC News the prestigious Peabody Award for Excellence in Journalism.

A resident of Bergen County, New Jersey, Ms. Pineda was recognized by the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs for her work helping victims of consumer fraud and has been recognized by Bergen County's Executive Director for her work helping victims of crime in the county.

“We are excited to host a journalist who has had such a strong impact on our Bergen County community,” says Elaine Meyerson, NCJW BCS Co-President. “Ms. Pineda’s work has had a lasting effect on victims of consumer fraud and those impacted by natural disasters, and we’re looking forward to her sharing tips with our section and the larger community.”

The event is free for members, and there is a charge of $10 for nonmembers, payable at the door. For more information on this meeting or the National Council of Jewish Women Bergen County Section and other upcoming events please visit www.ncjwbcs.org or call 201-385-4847.
