Artist Makes Her Solo Debut in Ridgewood
RIDGEWOOD—West Side Presbyterian Church is excited to welcome artist Victoria Wright to The Gallery for her first solo exhibition, “Peripheral.”
“Peripheral” encompasses a body of work that varies in subject matter, yet all have similar elements that make them appear to exist in the same sort of “other world” in the periphery of our own world. This feeling is achieved through a limited color palette centered around the primary colors, similar application of paint across the works, and similar compositional techniques such as a focus on empty space.
“Something I’ve really enjoyed in my work is creating dreamlike atmospheres, some of which border the line between peaceful and unsettling,” she says. “I also prefer painting in a way that is not necessarily realistic nor abstract, but somewhere in between. I feel this adds to the perplexing nature of some of the pieces.”
Victoria has been creating art since childhood and is a graduate of Lesley University’s College of Art and Design.
Stop by The Gallery to see Victoria’s exhibit on weekdays during January from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm or between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm on Sunday. Or come visit on Sunday, January 14 between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm for a reception and meet and greet with the artist.
