2024 Girl Scout Cookie Season Begins in Northern New Jersey Fueling the Next Generation of Female Entrepreneurs

Riverdale, N.J. – January 9, 2024 – Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey, the preeminent leadership development organization for girls in Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, and northern Warren counties, announces the kickoff of their 2024 Girl Scout Cookie Season, the annual event in which Girl Scouts unbox their futures as young female entrepreneurs.

From now through March, consumers can support the world’s largest entrepreneurial program for girls by purchasing their favorite cookies, including familiar favorites such as Thin Mints?, Samoas?, Tagalongs? and Adventurefuls.TM The Girl Scout Cookie Program helps fuel entrepreneurship and helps girls gain valuable online and in-person business skills that last a lifetime.

This year’s theme, Unbox the Future, aims to remove social barriers that often keep girls boxed in. Every purchase from Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey’s annual Girl Scout Cookie Program helps local girls earn partial funding needed to participate in unique and amazing experiences while learning five essential life skills: Goal Setting, Decision Making, Money Management, People Skills, and Business Ethics. Fueling adventures throughout the year, the Girl Scout Cookie Program enables girls to explore what interests them, discover their passions, take action on issues they care about, create a more equitable future for themselves and the world, as well as fund service projects, troop travel and summer camp.

Further enhancing the entrepreneurial spirit of the program, Girl Scouts’ Financial Literacy badges offer entrepreneurial playbooks for every age level. From the Cookie Goal Setter badge earned as a Daisy to the Entrepreneur Accelerator for girls in high school, the Girl Scout Cookie Program teaches girls financial literacy, planning, budgeting, teamwork, innovative thinking, and confident decision making, essential skills for girls seeking limitless barrier-breaking futures outside the box. Additionally, participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Program helps girls earn the GSNNJ Pillar Patch, which encourages them to explore activities across the four pillars of Girl Scouts: STEM, entrepreneurship, outdoors, and life skills.

This year, the price per box is $6.00 for every cookie variety, allowing Girl Scouts to earn more profit from each sale and providing additional opportunities to earn cookie credits. In addition to troop proceeds for activities, Girl Scouts participating in the 2024 Girl Scout Cookie Program can also earn the opportunity to build a free Girl Scout Build-A-Bear? friend at the council shop’s Build-A-Bear Workshop by selling a designated amount of cookie packages.

“I am always excited to kick off the much-anticipated annual Girl Scout Cookie Program. My enthusiasm is not just for the delicious cookies, but for the important life skills our girls learn through this program,”  said Sandra A. Kenoff, President / CEO, Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. “It enables girls to hone their entrepreneurial skills and advance their leadership journey. Here's to a season of growth and empowerment!”

This Girl Scout Cookie Season, customers can order cookies for themselves or donate cookies to local causes by placing orders with Girl Scouts in person for local delivery or online through the Digital Cookie? platform for direct shipment or local delivery.

Customers can also support local Girl Scout troops, as well as community organizations, by donating cookies online or in person through the Cookies from Home Program. Cookies donated through the Cookies from Home program will be delivered free of charge directly by GSNNJ. Last year, GSNNJ donated over 102,000 boxes of cookies to local non-profit organizations, including the New York Blood Center.

From January 9-13, 2024, customers who purchase nine or more packages of cookies to be shipped to them directly will receive $5.00 off their total shipping costs.

Additionally, this March, many Girl Scouts will continue to run outdoor cookie booths —a longstanding Girl Scout tradition that serves to teach young girls valuable sales and business skills. Consumers can use the Cookie Finder to locate a booth near them.
