Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care Offers New Spanish-Speaking Oncology Support Group, Open to All

PARAMUS, NJ, May 16, 2024 – Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care now offers a support group specifically for Spanish-speaking cancer patients.

Individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer and are actively receiving treatment are welcome to join, regardless of whether they are being treated at Valley or not. The goal of the group is for participants to obtain support and engage with other members to share experiences, struggles, and successes.

“This group was established to address a gap identified with face-to-face support for our Spanish-speaking patients,” said Yael Davidovics, LSW, social worker and host for the support group. “We hope that while patients can share challenges, successes, and resources among peers who are going through a similar challenge, they can also connect more freely based on language and culture.”

This support group takes place on the first Wednesday of each month from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. This is both an in-person and virtual group. The in-person session will take place at The Robert and Audrey Luckow Pavilion, located at One Valley Health Plaza in Paramus, NJ, in the second-floor conference room. An RSVP is required for in-person attendance due to space constrictions. If a participant cannot attend in person, a virtual meeting link will be provided.

To register for this support group, please call or email Yael Davidovics, LSW, at 201-634-5422 or lponcsocialwork@valleyhealth.com.
