RIDGEWOOD, NJ, June 24, 2024 – Valley Health System is pleased to announce the appointment of K. Nadeem Ahmed, MD, to the position of Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) for Valley Health System.
Dr. Ahmed has over 20 years of experience with healthcare systems across the United States and internationally. He most recently served as the Global CMIO for The Aga Khan University and its international network of hospitals in East Africa and Asia. There, Dr. Ahmed established their first multinational Health Informatics Department, working directly with leadership in planning, implementation, and optimization of all technology systems to support the delivery of high-quality patient care, medical education, and research.
He has served over two dozen healthcare systems as a Physician Executive Consultant to develop effective multidisciplinary governance strategies for successful deployment of electronic health record systems. Before that, Dr. Ahmed had co-founded a successful internal medicine hospitalist group at an affiliate hospital with the University of Virginia Health System and led their clinical transformation to a fully electronic system. Of note, prior to medical school, Dr. Ahmed worked as a Senior Information Technology (IT) Analyst at US Airways, where he developed electronic databases and coordinated service-level agreements with global IT service providers.
Appreciating the impact that technology has on people’s lives, Dr. Ahmed is a strong proponent of pushing technology forward to help improve healthcare.
“Valley Health System is one of the most technologically savvy healthcare organizations in the world, in my opinion,” said Dr. Ahmed. “The new hospital facility is a great example of the forward-thinking approach that Valley has adopted and I am very excited to be part of such an innovative healthcare system. I look forward to working with all of our clinical and administrative leaders to continue advancing care for our patients with effective deployment and optimal use of healthcare technology.”
Dr. Ahmed received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed residency in internal medicine at Lehigh Valley Hospital, affiliated with Penn State College of Medicine, in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
