BERGEN COUNTY HOSTS ANNUAL SENIOR FESTIVAL
County Division of Senior Services serves lunch to nearly 3,700 Bergen County seniors
PARAMUS, NJ – On Wednesday, September 12 the County of Bergen proudly held its Senior Festival, continuing a cherished tradition that was first hosted in 1967 and has since become an annual tradition. This year, nearly 3,700 seniors attended the festival, which was organized by the County’s Division of Senior Services under the Department of Human Services.
In addition to a complimentary lunch, the festival featured lively entertainment throughout the day. Attendees enjoyed live music, dancing, and recreational activities including chair yoga. Additionally, Bergen County seniors had the opportunity to peruse over 90 resource tables from local government agencies, non-profit organizations, and businesses to receive valuable information about programs, services, and opportunities for seniors.
“Our seniors are a vital part of Bergen County’s community, and my administration remains steadfast in our commitment to ensuring they have the resources, services, and programs they deserve,” said County Executive Jim Tedesco. “Programming like the Senior Festival not only provide a day of fun and connection, but they also give our seniors access to valuable support that enhances their quality of life, empowering them to live life to the fullest and continue contributing to the vibrant fabric of our county.”
"We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us today for Bergen County's Annual Senior Festival at Van Saun County Park. The County of Bergen is always proud to provide our seniors with the services, resources, and opportunities they need to lead strong and independent lives,” said Commissioner Chairwoman Germaine Ortiz. “Thank you to the Department of Human Services and Division of Senior Services for hosting another successful outing for Bergen County seniors. Our amazing staff and vendors deserve a special shoutout also for their dedication to making this day a success with over 3,000 people in attendance."
