Brown, Goldstein & Levy and Incendii Law file complaint on behalf of child sexual abuse survivors against trusted New Jersey community leaders.

MAPLEWOOD, New Jersey – Two plaintiffs have filed a complaint in New Jersey against their former Boy Scout troop leaders, Thomas J. Kilkenny, Jr. and Roger Brauchli, for drugging and sexually abusing them when the plaintiffs were only twelve and thirteen years old.

Plaintiffs, represented by attorneys Lauren DiMartino of Brown, Goldstein & Levy and Annie Seifullah of Incendii Law, seek accountability and compensation for the lifetime of trauma, depression, and marred relationships the abuse caused.

According to the complaint, Defendants abused their positions of power as leaders of a Boy Scout troop in Maplewood, New Jersey, to drug and sexually abuse the teenage boys during canoe trips that took place from 1993-1994. DiMartino and Seifullah believe there could be many others who were abused by the Defendants.

“The brazen, coordinated, and intentional nature of Kilkenny and Brauchli’s conduct suggests a calculated pattern of abuse. Our clients bravely came forward in hope that other victims of Defendants’ abuse know they’re not alone,” DiMartino said.

For years, the Defendants have been recognized as community leaders who dedicated much of their lives to the service of children while the survivors of their abuse suffered in silence. In 2019, the New Jersey Child Sex Abuse Act Amendments extended the statute of limitations for survivors to bring claims against their abusers, allowing SR and JD to speak out and to hold the Defendants accountable for drugging and abusing them and potentially other children entrusted in their care. Plaintiffs have previously reported the abuse to the police, but no action was taken.

“Although no amount of money can undo the lifetime of harm the defendants have caused, we are looking forward to putting them in front of a jury to obtain a measure of justice and help our clients move on with their lives in peace,” said Seifullah.
