Bergen County Awards $136,500 Open Space Trust Fund Grant to Fairview for Columbus Park Playground Upgrades


HACKENSACK – Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco and the Bergen County Board of Commissioners, presented a $136,500 grant to the Borough of Fairview for the installation of two brand-new playground units at Columbus Park.

The funding, awarded through the Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund, will allow for the replacement of aging equipment with modern, inclusive play structures designed to provide a safe and engaging space for children of all abilities.

“The Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund is one of the most effective tools we have to enhance recreational spaces and improve quality of life in our communities,” said Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco. “My administration is proud to partner with Fairview to bring new, modern, and inclusive amenities to Columbus Park, and I look forward to seeing local families enjoy these improvements for many years to come.”

“Investing in our parks is investing in our communities,” said Commissioner Germaine Ortiz. “These new playgrounds will bring more opportunities for families to enjoy the outdoors together, right here in Fairview. I’m proud that the Open Space Trust Fund continues to help towns make improvements that residents can enjoy immediately and for years to come”

The Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund remains a crucial resource for enhancing parks, playgrounds, and recreational facilities in all 70 municipalities, strengthening communities and preserving open space for future generations.
