LAST 2025 REVOLUTIONARY WAR ROUNDTABLE THIS WEDNESDAY, DEC. 10th


The Bergen250 Program, through our Division of Cultural & Historic Affairs, will host the final Revolutionary War Roundtable joined by Robb Haberman on Sgt. James Selkirk and the Morristown and Pompton Encampments

(HACKENSACK, N.J.) – The Bergen250 initiative, through the Bergen County Division of Cultural & Historic Affairs, continues its Fall Series of Revolutionary War Roundtable presentations with another compelling installment. On Wednesday, December 10th at 7:00 PM, historian Robb Haberman will deliver a lecture titled “Surviving Through Community: Sgt. James Selkirk at the Morristown and Pompton Encampments.”

This presentation will explore the remarkable story of Sgt. James Selkirk, a Continental soldier whose experiences at the Morristown and Pompton encampments highlight the critical role of community in sustaining the army through hardship. Haberman will examine how Selkirk and his fellow soldiers endured the challenges of winter encampments, relying on networks of support, resilience, and shared sacrifice to survive and continue the fight for independence.

The event will take place at the 4th Floor Learning Center at One Bergen County Plaza in Hackensack offering attendees an opportunity to gain fresh insight into the lived experiences of Revolutionary War soldiers. Haberman, known for his engaging research on everyday lives during the Revolution, will bring to life the struggles and perseverance of Selkirk and his comrades, underscoring the importance of community bonds in the broader fight for liberty.

Admission is FREE and open to the public. Seating is limited, so early arrival is recommended.
