When Women Build, Communities Rise: Habitat Bergen’s Women Build Week 2026

Oradell, NJ — Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County recently concluded its Women Build Week 2026, bringing together nearly 70 volunteers across seven build days to help finish a home in Oradell while strengthening community connections.

Women Build is rooted in the belief that empowering women strengthens families, neighborhoods, and entire communities. The initiative creates space for women to lead, learn new skills, and support one another while advancing Habitat’s mission to expand access to safe, affordable housing.

During the two-week event from March 23rd to April 3rd, teams of women volunteers completed key construction work, including flooring installation, landscaping and patio construction, and more.

Each build day also featured guest speakers—accomplished women professionals—who led conversations on community building, careers, and service. Speakers included Nicole Romanik (KW Village Square Realty), Karen Melon (NVE Bank, a division of Ion Bank), Bernie Han (CBS), Amanda Myers (Girl Scouts of Northern NJ), Melanie Curtis (How To Fly, Inc.), Viviana Mastrobuoni (NJ Department of Labor) and Ivonne Zaki (Bergen County Job Center).

The event was supported by corporate sponsors Valley Bank, Vericon Construction Company, HWP Group, NWIR (National Women in Roofing Northern NJ Council), and Linda B’s Studio, along with in-kind contributions from local businesses providing food and print/media support, including Evenly Odd Design and Print Studio, Luciano’s Homemade, Starbucks, Café Demi, The Little Kitchen, Wegmans, Inserra Supermarkets, Stew Leonard’s, Roman Pizza & Restaurant, and Pompilio’s Pizza & Restaurant.

Habitat Bergen plans to host additional Women Build–themed events later this year.
