Valley Now Offering Radial Shockwave Therapy for Chronic Pain
PARAMUS, NJ, July 13, 2026 – Valley Medical Group’s Integrative Medicine team is proud to offer radial shockwave therapy, a noninvasive pain management option to promote healing and reduce chronic musculoskeletal pain in patients.
Radial shockwave therapy, also known as acoustic pressure wave therapy, is a noninvasive treatment that uses pressure waves to stimulate healing and tissue regeneration. The therapy is often used as an adjunctive treatment for patients who may already be participating in physical therapy or other conservative treatments that have not fully resolved symptoms.
The treatment is designed to target one or more of three primary goals: reducing pain and inflammation, restoring myofascial tissue surrounding the muscles, and supporting tissue regeneration.
“At Valley our team treats you as the individual that you are and creates a personalized treatment plan that is customized to you,” said Lori Nuzzi, DC, Director of Integrative Medicine for Valley Medical Group, and a chiropractor trained in radial shockwave therapy.
Radial shockwave therapy is available for patients ages 16 and older. This treatment can benefit both athletes and non-athletes alike. The treatment is self-referred. Patients receiving radial shockwave therapy may also receive concurrent nonpharmacologic therapies, such as chiropractic care, acupuncture, or therapeutic massage.
Radial shockwave therapy can be used to treat a wide range of orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions, including:
Chronic pain disorders and syndromes
Heel and foot conditions, including plantar fasciitis
Hip conditions
Knee conditions
Muscle disorders
Shoulder conditions, such as adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder)
Spinal conditions
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ)
Tendon disorders, such as Achilles tendinopathy
Tennis elbow
Treatments typically last less than 20 minutes and are administered over a series of visits, depending on the patient’s needs. Most patients undergo treatment once or twice per week.
“We have been able to offer patients an innovative treatment option to improve their lives with this therapy,” said Christina Khawam, DC, a Valley chiropractor trained in radial shockwave therapy. “We base our results on the moments that matter most to each patient, whether that is attending a child’s wedding or playing pickleball with friends and experiencing no pain. Many patients experience a 30-50% improvement in pain and function within three to six weeks of treatment.”
Both Dr. Nuzzi and Dr. Khawam utilize advanced technology and evidence-based protocols to deliver individualized care focused on improving mobility, function, and overall quality of life.
“What sets us apart from the rest of the industry is our specialized care, dynamic protocol, and our ability to have in-the-moment change for improvement for our patients' specific care and needs,” said Dr. Khawam.
“Our lives are not just about longevity, but about quality,” said Dr. Nuzzi. “This tool is another way of giving patients back the quality of life that makes life worth living. And we are proud to give people that opportunity when they seek our care.”
Radial shockwave therapy is offered at Valley Health System – Ridgewood Campus located at 223 North Van Dien Avenue in Ridgewood, New Jersey, and Valley Health System – Montvale Campus located at 400 Market Street in Montvale, New Jersey.
