A Regional Resource
The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation serves as a regional resource and carries out a mission to improve community life in its work through four intersecting programs: Belonging and Opportunity, Community Philanthropy, Creative Communities, and Green and Healthy Places. Central to the NNJCF's success is fostering collaboration among local governments, school districts, businesses, non-profits, and community groups.
The Foundation leverages the power of creativity and collaboration to make life better for residents of these eight counties in North Jersey: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union and Warren. This is accomplished primarily by building diverse collaborations to address critical issues in communities, connecting people working to help their communities with valuable resources, leading catalytic placemaking projects to inspire creativity and leadership, and helping generous donors support causes that matter. Key initiatives and projects include the I.C. National Heritage Area project, ArtsBergen, Illumination 250, the New Jersey Creative Communities Conference, Mind Your Feelings, Green Infrastructure for Environmental Justice, and Hackensack River Nation. The NNJCF also hosts donor advised funds, other specialized funds and sponsored projects.
