Playground Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Stony Lane Elementary
June 11, 2024: Paramus, NJ – On the evening of June 10, 2024, Stony Lane Elementary School held its official ribbon cutting of the school’s new playground.
Those in attendance for the exciting day included Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Sean Adams; Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Tim Donohue; Business Administrator, Ms. Brooke Bartley; Supervisor of Buildingsand Grounds, Mr. Nicholas Naturile; Stony Lane Principal, Mr. Tom Marshall; Stony Lane PTA President, Mrs. Nicole Fellner; members of the Board of Education; and, of course, Stony Lane students and families.
The playground was in need of a makeover, as the prior one had been used for almost 30 years. Some special features of the new playground include a section just for Kindergarten that has age appropriate equipment, a multi-use seesaw, and a new slide with various climbing options. Mr. Marshall said when they opened the playground to students in January, it was “an amazing day. They have been waiting so long and they love it!” he continued. “The kids can’t wait to go out to recess.”
Attendees were encouraged to bring items to the ribbon cutting ceremony to donate to the Paramus Food Pantry to ‘Play it Forward.’ “At Stony Lane, we have a long tradition of teaching our kids compassion,” explained Mr. Marshall. “We do this at Thanksgiving and at various other times of the year. This is one more time where we want to focus on others to share our joy, because nothing is more ‘Stony’ than that!”
The Stony Lane community thanks the Paramus Board of Education and the Stony Lane PTA for funding the playground and making a new and improved space for the Stony Lane Elementary School students to enjoy.
