BERGEN COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER ADOPTION EVENT RESULTS IN MULTIPLE ADOPTIONS, GRANT SUPPORT FOR SHELTER OPERATIONS
CLIFTON, N.J. — The Bergen County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center joined BOBS? from Skechers? and Best Friends Animal Society on May 2nd for a successful pet adoption event at the Skechers retail store in Clifton, helping connect shelter animals with loving homes while raising awareness for pet adoption throughout Bergen County.
During the four-hour event, the shelter received 14 adoption applications, with two dogs adopted, seven cats and kittens entering the adoption process, and additional applications pending. Bergen County Animal Shelter staff and volunteers also showcased additional adoptable pets currently in the shelter’s care.
As part of the event, BOBS from Skechers and Best Friends Animal Society presented the Bergen County Animal Shelter with a $5,000 grant to support the shelter’s ongoing lifesaving efforts and commitment to finding homes for healthy and treatable animals.
“Events like this help shine a light on the incredible animals waiting for homes at the Bergen County Animal Shelter and the dedicated staff and volunteers who care for them every day,” said Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco. “We are grateful to BOBS from Skechers and Best Friends Animal Society for their partnership and support as we continue our mission of promoting adoption and responsible pet ownership throughout Bergen County.”
Commissioner Germaine Ortiz, who attended the event on behalf of the Bergen County Board of Commissioners, praised the community response and importance of supporting shelter adoption efforts.
“It was wonderful to see so many families stop by, meet these animals, and consider opening their homes to a rescue pet,” said Commissioner Germaine Ortiz. “Every adoption creates space for another animal in need, and partnerships like this make a real difference for shelters and the communities they serve.”
The event also celebrated National Pet Month and highlighted the renewed partnership between BOBS from Skechers and Best Friends Animal Society, which includes a $500,000 commitment from BOBS from Skechers to support Best Friends’ nationwide mission to help make the United States no-kill.
