92-Year-Old Allendale Resident Lives Out Musical Dream and Records Song at Sound on Sound Studios in Montclair, N.J.
Manny Carvajal’s Original Song Available on Streaming Platforms
ALLENDALE, N.J. (July 30, 2026) – Manuel “Manny” Carvajal, a 92-year-old music lover who resides at Allendale Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, recently lived out a lifelong dream and recorded an original song at the iconic Sound on Sound Studios in Montclair, N.J. The song, titled “We Will Rise,” is now available on major music streaming platforms.
Carvajal has had a lifelong passion for music, and it has always been a significant part of his identity. In learning more about his musical journey, the life enrichment teams at Allendale and Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports the center, wrote an original song for Carvajal to perform and professionally record to give him a one-of-a-kind, personalized melody and a heartfelt experience to remember. Carvajal added his name to a storied list of accomplished musicians who have recorded at Sound on Sound Studios, which includes artists such as Beyoncé, Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen and Tony Bennett.
“Dreams do not have an age limit, and Manny’s experience at the studio is a true testament to that,” said Ricardo Pena, vice president of life enrichment for Marquis, who arranged the song and sang backing vocals on the track with Marquis’ Ace Lipuma. “This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for Manny and an opportunity to celebrate a life filled with music, creativity and joy. It’s a beautiful example of how we are helping residents continue to pursue their passions and create new memories. It was a true honor to help Manny bring his vision to life and give him an unforgettable moment.”
In celebrating the release of his debut single, Carvajal said, “I was very excited to have had the opportunity to perform in a recording studio. I loved it!”
Carvajal added that his love of music came at an early age. "I have listened to classical music since I was five years old and began listening to opera around the age of 10,” he said. “Opera music helped me develop my voice. Later, I met my future wife, who also had a beautiful singing voice. We would sing together at parties and private clubs where we were members." Some of his biggest musical influences include Mario Lanza, Enrico Caruso, Mario del Monaco and many other great tenors.
