Community FoodBank of New Jersey Launches Sixth Annual Great Big Diaper Drive to Support Families in Need
In recognition of Diaper Need Awareness Week, the Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) has kicked off its sixth annual #GreatBigDiaperDrive, an initiative aimed at raising awareness about diaper insecurity and providing essential supplies to families struggling to make ends meet.
Diaper need remains a significant challenge for families across the country. Nearly one in two U.S. families struggles to afford enough diapers to keep their babies and young children clean, dry, and healthy. For households experiencing diaper insecurity, the financial strain can be especially severe, with 34% reporting that they have skipped meals to afford diapers for their children.
As the costs of food, housing, utilities, health care, and childcare continue to stretch household budgets, many working families are turning to food pantries and community organizations for additional support. Yet diapers, wipes, and other essential baby care products remain costly necessities that families cannot go without.
Through its annual #GreatBigDiaperDrive, CFBNJ is working to ease that burden by collecting diapers, wipes, and diaper creams for distribution through its network of community food pantries. The initiative also seeks to shine a spotlight on diaper insecurity and encourage New Jersey residents to take action.
Since the campaign launched in 2021, CFBNJ's North and South Jersey Women Fighting Hunger groups have raised funds and collected donations equivalent to more than one million diapers for families throughout the state.
New Jersey residents can help make a difference in several ways, including hosting an in-person diaper drive, collecting diapers and baby care essentials, organizing a virtual drive, purchasing items from CFBNJ's Amazon Gift List, or making a financial contribution.
Thanks to CFBNJ's purchasing power, every $1 donated can help provide six diapers to a family in need, allowing even small contributions to make a meaningful impact.
By bringing communities together to address an often-overlooked need, the #GreatBigDiaperDrive is helping ensure that more New Jersey families have access to the everyday essentials their children deserve.
