5K Run/Walk in Ridgefield Park to Benefit Local L.E.A.D. Program for Kids

Description
Law Enforcement Against Drugs and Violence (L.E.A.D.) is having its inaugural 5k Run/Walk in Ridgefield Park on Saturday, October 16, at 9 a.m. Hosted by L.E.A.D., which teaches students about the dangers of drugs and violence, the race, sponsored by Colliers Engineering and Design and Green Team Worldwide Environmental Group, will take place at Overpeck County Park, located on Challenger Road.
Supported by dedicated police officers, L.E.A.D. provides leadership and resources so law enforcement agencies can partner with educators, community leaders and families with the only proven effective anti–drug, anti–violence curriculum for students K-12. Over the course of the 10-week program, officers and educators teach the L.E.A.D. curriculum to educate our youth on how they can make smart decisions without the involvement of drugs. L.E.A.D. currently operates in 37 states across the U.S.
The race will start on Challenger Road, where participants will run or walk their three miles to the finish line. All runners will be provided with accurate times.
The run will occur as scheduled:
8 a.m. Registration
9 a.m. Race Start
9:30 a.m. Beginning of After Party
10-10:15 a.m. Awards Ceremony
12:30 p.m. Event
concludes
Race registrants are encouraged to make teams to receive an award for the highest raising team, and additional prizes will be awarded to the three fastest men and women as well as to those who raise certain amounts of money. All attendees will receive a free water bottle at the race.
Participants may register pre-race day for $30 or on race day for $35. 75% of net profits raised from the 5K will go toward the participating local L.E.A.D. chapter.
