Bergen County Has High-Profile Reorganization Meeting

Silna Zur and Sullivan to Lead 2022 Commissioner Board


HACKENSACK- Bergen County officials last night swore in incumbents Tracy Silna Zur (D-Franklin Lakes) and Steven A. Tanelli (D-North Arlington) for their fourth terms at the Board of Commissioners reorganization. Also, sworn in were Bergen County Surrogate Michael Dressler, Sheriff Anthony Cureton, and Clerk John Hogan.

The outdoor event took place on the Courthouse steps and drew leaders from across the state. Governor Phil Murphy, Congressman Josh Gottheimer, NJ-5, the Honorable Judge Julien X. Neals, United States District Court, the Honorable Judge Bonnie J. Mizdol, Bergen County Superior Court, incoming Senate President Nick Scutari, and County Executive James J. Tedesco III officiated the oaths.

“I am so honored that the voters of Bergen County have sent me back for a fourth term on the Board of Commissioners” said Commissioner Chairwoman Tracy Silna Zur. “I look forward to getting back to work so we can continue delivering competent, efficient, and compassionate government here in Bergen County”.

In addition, last night the Board chose their 2022 leadership as Tracy Silna Zur (D-Franklin Lakes), Thomas J. Sullivan (D-Montvale), and Joan Voss (D-Fort Lee) to serve as Chairwoman, Vice-Chairman, and Chair Pro Tempore respectively.

“I’m honored to have been re-elected to my fourth term to serve the people of Bergen County,” said Commissioner Steve Tanelli. “I look forward to continuing the work of expanding outdoor recreation, and working to help the complete return from the pandemic while advocating for the nearly one million residents.”

Also in attendance were Bergen County Democratic Chairman Paul Juliano, Ritzy Moralez-Diaz, District Director for Congressman Pascrell, Bergen County Commissioners Dr. Joan Voss, Mary Amoroso, Ramon Hache, Germaine Ortiz, and Thomas Sullivan, Assemblywoman-elect Shama Haider, Garfield Mayor Robert Rigoglioso, Lodi Mayor Scott Luna, Lodi Deputy Mayor Vincent Martin, Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik, and Bergen County Deputy Clerk Steve Chong.

“I am truly honored to have been selected as Vice-Chair for 2022,” said Commissioner Vice-Chairman Tom Sullivan. “I have the upmost confidence in this board to tackle all of the challenges this year will bring, in the same way we successfully tackled the challenges of the past 2 years. Bergen County residents can rest assured That we will continue to be Bergen County Strong.
