Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey Announces New Daisy & Brownie Sparkling Adventure Series Exclusively for New Members Who Join Through Extended-Year Membership


Series Includes Access to Members-Only ‘Paint Your World Purple’ Virtual Event Featuring Kristen Bell

Riverdale, N.J. – May 5, 2022 – Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey (GSNNJ), the preeminent leadership development organization for girls in Bergen, Passaic, Morris, Sussex and northern Warren counties, announces the launch of their Daisy and Brownie Sparking Adventure Series, an activity series including both virtual and in-person sessions. The program is open to girls entering grades K-3 who are new to Girl Scouts and are interested in becoming a Girl Scout now with an Extended-Year Membership.

The Daisy and Brownie Sparkling Adventure Series kicks off on May 14, 2022, with Activity Box Pickup at the Riverdale Service Center located at 95 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Riverdale, N.J. from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Girls will receive a fun activity kit and a SWAG bag to be utilized throughout their upcoming virtual sessions, which will begin on May 18. The meetings will take place on Wednesdays from 4:00-5:00 p.m., or from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Zoom, and will grant new Girl Scouts the opportunity to participate in a variety of exciting, hands-on activities. Girls can choose either session and can sign up at any point during the series.

The four-week-long program will take place on May 18, May 25, June 1, and June 8, and include the opportunity for Girl Scouts to attend exclusive members-only events including in-person Family Adventure Day at Lake Rickabear Camp in Kinnelon, N.J. and the virtual “Paint Your World Purple” event featuring actor, producer, parent, and Girl Scout alum Kristen Bell. As co-author of #1 New York Times bestseller “The World Needs More Purple People,” Bell will chat about what it means to be a Purple Person and complete fun activities to show off Purple People skills. The virtual members-only event will air two times on Thursday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. ET and 6:30 p.m. PT. Members can join early at 6 p.m. ET/PT for a special pre-show featuring Girl Scouts from across the country. This members-only event is open to Girl Scouts who join or renew their membership now through May 13.

The Daisy and Brownie Sparkling Adventure Series will include the following activities:

Virtual Troop Meetings & Sparkle Party

Earn a My Little Pony Challenge Patch and the chance to win a My Little Pony Gift Bag

Receive a Daisy Launch Patch (Girl Scout Daisies only)

Make a Lava Lamp and Explore Nature activity sessions

The virtual Paint Your World Purple with Actress Kristen Bell & Girl Scouts event on May 19

Family Adventure Day on June 26 at Lake Rickabear Camp, which includes face painting, colorful hair clip-ons, cupcake decorating, slime and S'mores making, and more

Meet Gia Lacqua, children's book author of Lovey Livy Lu, at Family Adventure Day, where 20 signed copies of her book will be raffled off 

Receive July and August Girl Scouts by Mail Booklets

At the completion of the series, Girl Scouts will be able to join a troop of their own or work as an individually registered Girl Scout to start earning badges and patches.

“The Daisy and Brownie Sparkling Adventure Series offers a unique opportunity for girls to become familiar with and engage in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience during the spring and summer months through an exciting array of unforgettable activities and events designed exclusively for new members in grades K-3,” said Sandra A. Kenoff, President/Chief Executive Officer, Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. “By joining through an Extended-Year Membership, not only will girls have the opportunity to participate in these fun activities but they will also be ready to experience all Girl Scouts has to offer by joining a troop or working as an individually registered Girl Scout ahead of the 2022-2023 Girl Scout year.”

Registration for Extended-Year Membership through the Daisy and Brownie Sparkling Adventure Series is open now through June 30 and costs $56 for girls and $35 for adults. The first 50 adults to volunteer as Troop Leaders will receive free Extended-Year Membership for themselves once they register their girl and attend a New Leader Orientation. Training and resources are provided and financial assistance is available.
