JERSEY CITY MAYOR STEVEN FULOP JOINS DEVELOPERS TO CELEBRATE COMPLETION OF THE HAZEL LUXURY RENTAL

Upscale 114-Home Building Delivers Luxury Living To Jersey City’s Trendy Bergen-Lafayette

JERSEY CITY, NJ – With the cut of a ceremonial ribbon, Jersey City officials, business leaders and other dignitaries marked the completion of The Hazel, a new luxury rental building that has delivered a high-end residential lifestyle to the City’s trendy Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood.

Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop joined development principals from Alpine Residential and Fields Grade for the ceremony which took place in the building’s Sky Lounge and outdoor, landscaped roof deck with the Manhattan skyline in the backdrop.  The event was held four months after The Hazel launched leasing for its 114 stylish residences and immediately found a welcoming public, with tremendous rental velocity recorded since early February.  The Marketing Directors is the building’s exclusive leasing agent.

“Thank you first to Alpine.  They’ve done several projects in this neighborhood and are also slated to do SciTech City, which is around the corner from The Hazel and one of the most significant projects that is happening in Jersey City and will be transformational for the entire region,” Mayor Fulop said.  “I’ve also had the privilege of working with and calling Rob and Jim Caulfield friends for close to 17 years.  I appreciate the fact that they follow through and build what they say they’re going to build.  More than that, they are willing to invest in areas that aren’t necessarily on the radar yet, whether that’s on Jersey City’s West Side or right here in Bergen-Lafayette.”

Located at 89 Monitor Street, The Hazel is ideally located in the heart of the close-knit neighborhood that is conveniently connected to the city’s lively downtown district.  Six affordable residences are also included in the building, part of 30 total affordable homes the development team plans to deliver throughout its Bergen-Lafayette portfolio.

“The Hazel and its leasing success are further proof of the appeal of Bergen-Lafayette, which offers the best of both worlds for today’s renter,” said Bill Rosato, Managing Partner of Alpine Residential, which has developed hundreds of homes in the neighborhood, with hundreds more in the pipeline.  “The community is close to all that makes Jersey City so great, including its vibrant dining, cultural and entertainment scene, and the renowned Liberty State Park.  It also provides a great alternative to the hectic pace of downtown neighborhoods with a more tranquil, small-town environment.   We’re excited to be a part of the growth of Bergen-Lafayette and look forward to continued investment in the community.”

With architecture by Fogarty Finger, The Hazel features a distinctive pale gray brick façade accented by glazed artisanal green brick panels. Interplayed with large floor-to-ceiling windows designed as a nod to the neighborhood’s industrial heritage, the panels create an engaging pattern with the street.

Spurring the popularity of The Hazel is its mix of well-appointed studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments complemented by a suite of forward-thinking, resort-inspired amenities.  Found within the six-story building are a Sky Lounge with New York City views, outdoor courtyards, co-working space, library with fireplace, state-of-the-art fitness center, demonstration kitchen and an amenity guest suite.  The full-service resident experience is further enhanced by on-site Concierge, a package room, bike storage, covered parking with electric car charging stations, onsite electric scooters, and ground floor retail space.  The Hazel also features TULU, an on-demand smart rental store for high-quality household and lifestyle products.

Lying just west of Downtown Jersey City, Bergen-Lafayette is considered by many as a hidden gem for its open green spaces, small-town neighborhood charm and dynamic lifestyle options.  Convenient access to Downtown Jersey has never been easier thanks to the opening of the Liberty State Park Bridge.  This extension of Jersey Avenue provides greater connectivity to Jersey City’s downtown district, complete with bike lanes and sidewalks.  The new scenic route through the park strengthens existing means of connecting neighborhoods, including the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail Liberty Park Station, which is just steps from The Hazel, while nearby Route 78 provides a pathway to the Holland Tunnel, as well as points west.

For outdoor recreation, Liberty State Park offers more than 1,200 acres of open space, a two-mile waterfront promenade, an outdoor performance area, and a celebrated restaurant with sweeping views of the Hudson River, Manhattan skyline and Statue of Liberty. The park also offers a full-service marina, ferry service to Manhattan, charter boat excursions and maritime sightseeing tours.  Also anchoring the neighborhood is the Liberty Science Center with its ever-evolving interactive museum experience.

The Hazel is managed by the developer’s affiliated management company, South Oxford Management.
