JCC of Northern NJ Celebrates Passover with Toddlers and Parents:

J on the Go, the outreach initiative of the JCC of Northern NJ serving families raising young Jewish children, found a multitude of ways to celebrate Passover this year.

The holiday was kicked off early at "Ciao, Chametz!", a pre-Passover pizza party, wishing farewell to the foods to be avoided during the Passover holiday.

JCC of Northern NJ's J on the Go moms gathered for a kid-free evening to learn the art of flower arranging. Karina Granin at City Blossoms, a floral boutique in NYC, provided the instruction and the inspiration. Hosted at Kol Dorot, a Reform Jewish community in Oradell, everyone brought home gorgeous centerpieces for their Passover Seder tables.

Next up was Passover Tales & Tails with John, the NJ Snake Man. Parents and children sang songs, decorated Seder plates, read PJ Library books and learned all about reptiles.

A special Shabbat Music Circle — Passover edition — rounded out the holiday programming with Rabbi Jim Stoloff at Temple Avodat Shalom in River Edge who sponsored the morning of music. In all, over 65 families participated in the holiday celebrations.

The following organizations helped with resources and/or financial support for the JCC's Passover events: The Glen Rock Jewish Center Nursery School shared songs and stories at the lizard show. Matzah was generously provided by ShopRite of Paramus and ShopRite of Rochelle Park. Family-friendly Passover recipes and a family Haggadah were provided by PJ Library. Funding for these programs is made possible by JCC of Northern NJ, Jewish Federation of Northern NJ and PJ Library. For more information, visit jccnnj.org or call 201-666-6610.
